FRIENDS OF SCOUTING

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

WHAT ARE SCOUTS DOING TODAY?
 

 

 

  • Scouts and their families collected over 122,000 lbs. of food for the hungry through the Scouting for Food Program.
  • Scouts performed over 35,000 hours of service for the 11 counties we serve to other community orgnizations.
  • 418 young men achieved the highest rank in Scouting - Eagle Scout, providing 60,862 hours of service.
  • Over 1,700 Scouts and Venturers attended a week of summer camp this past summer, earning over 6,000 Merit Badges.
  • Over 2,600 Cub Scouts participated in a one-day educational camp.
 
 WHY GIVE TO FRIENDS OF SCOUTING?
 
Ore-Ida Council serves over 14,100 young people in 41 communities.  The yearly cost to provide programming and service for one Scout is $125.00.

All boys, young men & young women (14+) deserve the opportunity to be a Scout.  With your support of this campaign we can provide the resources necessary to make sure every kid can benefit from Scouting's fun, exciting, adventure-filled activities that foster character, honesty respect and life-long values. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Men who were Scouts five or more years as boys are more likely then men with no Scouting experience to:
 
  • Graduate from high school (91% versus 87%)
  • Gradute from college (35% versus 19%}
  • Earn higher annual household incomes ($80,000 versus $61,000)
  • Value family relantionships highly (81% versus 72%)
  • Have lifelong friendships (89% versus 74%)
  • Attend religious services (87% versus 83%)
  • Believe helping others should come before one's own self-interest (92% versus 83%)
