Subject: Potential Eagle Scout Projects

Mr. Utter, Thank you for responding to me so quickly.

The Bureau of Reclamation manages over 6,300 acres adjacent to Lake Cascade. In the past 10 years, we have had over 200 Eagle Scout Projects. The majority of our habitat improvement projects are completed by scouts.

We still have many more projects to complete. There are projects that can be completed during any season of the year:

Winter: Refill/repair goose nesting platforms and wood duck nest boxes. Snowmobiles would provide quick access to the areas where these platforms are located.

Spring: Harvest and plant willow slips and cottonwood poles.

Spring/Summer/Fall: Construct and install goose platforms, wood duck nest boxes, bluebird boxes, kestrel boxes, flicker nest boxes and squirrel den boxes. I would ask that GPS coordinates be provided for all of these projects. That way these projects can be located for future maintenance.

We also have quite a few areas with small Lodgepole pine that need to be thinned and the slash piled. Much of this can be completed with a set of large loppers. In some cases, adults would be needed to operate chainsaws.

If anyone is interested in these projects, they can contact me through email, or my telephone number is: (208) 382-4258.

Thanks for taking the time to consider these projects.

Warren
