NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING (NYLT)
“Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average…”--Jim Rohn--
Come join our “NYLT” course! We need leaders just like YOU!
JULY 16th-21st, 2012
CAMP MORRISON, McCall, ID
All right, so what is NYLT?
Simple….National Youth Leadership Training
If you have been around for awhile, you may recognize the terms “JLT” or “Baden Powell”. National Youth Leadership Training is built on the legacy of those great courses. It is all about leadership: what it takes to be a good leader, what to do when you find yourself in charge, and how to be the best leader you can be. We hold the course at Camp Morrison once a year and we think it is the best way for a youth leader to get a handle on their position. You might consider NYLT to be the scout’s version of the famed Wood Badge course.
Scouts will spend six days participating in activities, games, challenges, discussions, and adventures that will help them “BE-KNOW-DO” what it takes to be a leader. The course is set to model a month in the life of a unit, culminating in an overnight outpost camp reached by using GPS orienteering skills learned throughout the week. This is a youth lead course showing that a youth led unit is successful. Come join us and find the quest for leadership exciting and fun!
WHO SHOULD GO?
Any scout who is (or will be) a leader in their unit should definitely come and spend some time with us.
We recommend that senior patrol leaders, patrol leaders, team captains, crew presidents, and their assistants come to NYLT, but the course is open to all scouts with an interest in leadership.
Scouts attending should be at least a first class scout, 13-18 years old, and some experience with multi-day camping.
What is the Cost
The course this year will cost $200 per participant. This fee covers meals and the costs for the program elements. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required with an application. Final payments need to be received in the Scout Office by Friday, June 29, 2012. We understand that the fees can be steep for some scouts with limited resources; we encourage youth to start now to acquire these funds via work or scholarship (a limited amount are available - all applications will be reviewed by the training committee and awarded as funds allow). We really want all youth leaders to have the opportunity to participate in this fabulous course. If you have any questions, please contact NYLT Course Director, Scott Groggett at (208) 587-1700 or grogs5@msn.com.
Adult Leaders, let us do the talking for you!
If you like the course and you are interested in having scouts from your youth attend, our staff would be happy to come to one of your meetings and present the NYLT program to your unit. We would be pleased to come and answer any questions you or your scouts might have. We also have some short videos available about the course; we can even play some team games with your troop. The choice is yours.
