The Order of the Arrow
is Boy Scout's National Honor Society, with a
membership of more than 176,000 scouts and scouters. The OA is
run by elected youth leaders assisted by adult advisers. Its
purpose is to recognize those youth and adult campers who best
exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives; to develop and
maintain camping traditions and spirit; to promote Scout camping; and
to crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of
leadership in cheerful service to others.
Tukarica Lodge 266 is chartered through the Ore Ida Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and is headquartered in Boise, Idaho. The totem of the Lodge is the cougar and the name tukarica comes from the Shoshoni, literally meaning sheep-eater (cougar). The Legend of Tukarica, a brief History of the Lodges, and a History of the Ore Ida Council is available by clicking the underlined links. The Lodge and its members contribute thousands of work hours each year to the Council and its various communities through individual and group service projects. Did You Know . . .
